October 20, 2006 What is in your hand today? By: Ann ….the Lord said to Moses, "What’s that in your hand?" "A staff," he replied. The Lord said, "Throw it on the ground." Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake and he ran from it. Then the Lord said to him, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand." Ex 4:2-4 What is in your hand today? What does the Lord say about your hands, anyhow? Well, He does tell us that we need clean hands and a pure heart to stand in His holy place (Ps 24:4). It seems that our hands and our hearts are closely connected in things material and things spiritual!! He tells us to work with all our might at whatever project we might be involved in, and we just can’t do that unless our hearts are telling our heads to be motivated, creative, and enthusiastic in all the steps of the process. Do you have a steering wheel in your hand? A load of Laundry? A computer keyboard? He has asked that His own be obedient and faithful servants and stewards of what He has given us, and to those who obey, more will be added ~ not necessarily the same as that was previously attended to. Those who are found faithful in the small things will get the promotion to the bigger things. (Matt 23:21) Thankfully, the young mother serving her family will not be rewarded by the Lord with larger piles of laundry. His blessings, in the natural and spiritual we wait for as we worship, and exercise our faith and hope in Him. The manifestation of those blessings we’ll receive with thankfulness and praise. Tired of looking at what’s in your hand? Just look at what’s in His hand! Sometimes we look at ourselves a little too long. We can focus on His right hand where there are pleasures forevermore. We can remember that while He is busy forming the Character of Christ in us we can receive daily manna from His word! I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad……Ps 16:8-9 |
