SMACK!!! HAVE YOU HIT THE BRICK WALL YET? HAS YOUR WALK WITH JESUS BECOME A LITTLE DIFFICULT? Boy this writer has lost her mind! No, not really; let me explain. It was very important that I talk to you at first about how wonderful it is to be a new creation, to be in a relationship with God that is hard to explain and it is the best thing that has happened to you. It is important that you resolve in your heart how much God loves you before you hear about the not so pleasant stuff that the enemy throws at you. When you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, and could call God your Father, and have the Holy Spirit to guide you, you felt you were over the top. You had reached the very place that nothing could hurt you. You thought everything was going to be great-all the time- but wait - things started to began to happen. Things not so pleasant. At the moment you have given your heart to Jesus and you became His, he, the Devil - Satan - Lucifer -The Evil One - lost! Lost you to Jesus and he got MAD!!!! Ooooh! SO MAD! He lost you, but he thinks he can still influence you - and he can if you let him. He is the great deceiver and will use lies in every part of our lives to influence us. If he can influence us, then he can separate us from God and His truth. God is pure truth. That is why we can truly trust the word of God. So, let’s figure out how to dismantle this brick wall of lies, that seems to be so tall, so strong, so impossible to get past. Let’s build our own wall instead of God’s truth using the word of God to tear down the brick wall of destructive lies that Satan builds. One thing I always remind myself of when things get rough is that the Word says that I, little ol’ me., “can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”. In Ephesians 3:16, it talks about the strength you are given through the Holy Spirit. When you stop and think about it, it is all about God and His strength. When we feel that things that are before us are just too big, then we can yell, “Father, HELP!!!” He is always there and He has never failed anyone, ever. As children grow up, they learn what is right and what is wrong. What is sin, and what is called righteousness. We learn from our parents, teachers, and others who influence us what is acceptable, and what is not. Even a simple thing such as learning that if you touch a hot stove you will get burned can have a spiritual meaning too. Here comes the temptation - will it really matter if the stove is touched? If it is hot oooh yeah! The thing we need to look at first, is the fact we were instructed what to do. You were given a truth and you chose not to listen. You were tempted to not obey regardless if there were any consequences or not. In this case there were consequences to the action. YOU GOT BURNED! Let’s look at this little test taking place before any relationship with Jesus. You were told not to do something, and yet, you did it anyway. You got burnt, and more than likely, were punished because you disobeyed the instructions. Man that is a real bad deal! Now let’s look at the same thing as happening after you have given your heart to Jesus. You are tempted, the same choice, you choose to touch the hot stove and you get burned. You get hurt, only this time you ask for forgiveness for not obeying the instruction, receive the forgiveness and you are not punished for what you did. The only thing that happened is that you got a burnt. The truth is that when we have received the redemptive power of being washed in the blood of Jesus we no longer have to pay the price or be punished. Jesus took our punishment to the cross for all our sins. However, there are times that we still have to face consequences for our actions like receiving a burn that will heal in time. We were forgiven, however, for the disobedience. Jesus says in John 14:15 “that if we love him will keep His commandments. He loved us so much that He died for our sins, took them away completely and it is hard to imagine anyone not wanting to return that love. Now that we have a choice to walk in righteousness, holiness, purity, and love, I cannot imagine walking away from God. I cannot imagine wanting to always be tempted to do those things that literally make us unhappy. Now back to my growing up years - learning about sin -was it to play a role in my life, or was it simply going to be a brick wall that I hade to dismantle either a little at a time or a large pieces? Even after I learned about sin I still had to chose: do I do this, do I say that, do I turn away from the temptation or do I give in? I found that it got easier each time I said “NO”, and after a while, those choices just became a part of my everyday life. It was a good thing. The more I walked with God, the easier it was to live a fulfilled life. Have you ever been in a position where you wondered if anyone really cared who you were, or how you lived your life? Well, I care because I know that your decisions effects your relationship with Jesus. I have found that nearly fifty years later, that Satan still pulls those same old tricks to try to get me off-track with my walk with Jesus. I can see it coming now. It is a lot easier to just use God’s word to keep that wall from being built, rather than trying to taking down the wall of lies later. It is easier to resist gossiping, than to undo all the hurt that gossip causes. It is easier to tell the truth, than to remember the lie. It is easier to not to watch filth on TV or movies, than to try to get it out of my head later. Remember, whatever we see, it is implanted in our brains. When I look back the time I became a teenager, I became more and more aware what others saw in me. We are not suppose to focus on what man thinks, only what God says and thinks. We have to make up our own hearts how we want to be. The thought comes to us so often what others think, or if we act a certain way we will still be accepted by our friends, that we lose sight of what is really important. A good thing to think about when we a faced with these situations, is we simply ask our self, "If Jesus were to walk in - would I be ashamed or embarrassed, or would I be delighted so see Him and introduce Him to everyone there?" These decisions continue to influence my life because they formed who I am today. Every time I chose to say, "No" to the temptation, I dismantle that brick wall. Now I can dance without it being a problem simply because I dance for God in expression of praise, a form of worship. A dance that comes from the heart, not one that looks like what the world does. I chose not to allow the temptation to be always in my mind. I simply let it roll right through my brain as fast it can. Some day Satan will get the idea that his little temptations are not working, and he will stop. It says in the Word that "...if we resist the devil, he will flee from us." I can guarantee you that I chose to resist. I want a wall of love, caring, giving, sharing, you know, all those things that Jesus puts in us. I want His love most of all because when He loves me, then I get to share a wonderful things with others, Him!!!! If you are having a problem with something specific and that wall won’t come down, just write to me here at the website, and I will get back with you. Remember, we are loved with a perfect love.
