Recipe for a Pure Heart


 

I love recipes of all kinds, but here is one that we all need.

                                   Recipe for a Pure Heart

3 Verses of Scripture                                                        Holy Spirit

1 cup prayer, mingled with tears of Godly sorrow.          Faith

1 sword                                                                             Hope

God’s love                                                                        Charity

Find at least 3 well-seasoned verses of Scripture. Take a level cup of prayer, mingled with tears of Godly sorrow (which worketh repentance). Next, take the sword, (which is the word of God), and pierce the heart until well broken and tender. Cover with God’s love until very warm. Then fill with the Holy Spirit. (A double portion would be good.) Garnish freely with equal amounts of faith, hope, and charity. If you don’t have any of these on hand, they may be obtained freely at the throne of grace! If ever the heart should become hard and bitter, repeat steps 1, 2, and 3. Finally, “Keep the heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life”.
