Why would God send good people to hell?

The Bible says that God loves us with an everlasting love. He is good and His mercy endures forever. It is written, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, but is long-suffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2Peter 3:9)

When man sinned in the garden of Eden, no longer could he have fellowship with God. No longer could man walk and talk with the Creator of the universe. Adam had made a very bad decision and all of mankind would suffer the consequences of his actions. Man had given dominion over to the enemy, and only a man could restore it back the way it was before the fall.

It broke God's heart that no longer could he have fellowship with His precious man. He loved him so much. Even though man had sinned against him, He still loved him. The Bible says in Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. God loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus to pay the price for our salvation. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jesus was perfect in every way. He never sinned in His life. He was God in the flesh, but He became human, so He would qualify to be our scapegoat. He died in our stead, so we can go to heaven. He died so fellowship could be restored with the Father.

From the beginning of time, God has given man free will. Man has the right to choose to serve Him or to serve the enemy. He will never take that right away from us. Act 2:21 says, And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. John 3:17 says, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 1Timothy 2:5 says, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Act 16:31 says, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9 says, If we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved.

All of this proves that God love us so much, that there was no sacrifice too great to restore us to Himself. He promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never change. He is also no respecter of persons. He longs to have fellowship with us, but He has left it up to us. We are the ones that decides whom we will serve. It is totally our choice, and He will never take away our right to choose. It breaks His heart for us to die and go to hell, but He will honor His word no matter what. We have free will. He has provided a way to escape hell, but the choice is always up to us.

So you see, God is a good God, and He does not send anyone to hell. He gives us the right to decide for ourselves. The only thing that will send you to hell is not accepting Jesus into your heart. In John 14:6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me. If you do not know Him today, you can choose to. Just ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior. He is faithful and just and He will cleanse you of all unrighteousness. He will honor your request. He will come into your heart and the Bible says you will be a new creation in Him. Old things will be passed away and all things will become new. Your name will be written in the Lambs book of life and nothing can pluck you out of His hand. May God bless you.
