Details about Dead Men Walking:
Dead Men Walking
From Death Unto Life By Kenny Hatchett
Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are born living and yet we are dead. For we are born in sin and in sin we are dead to God. Until we through faith in Jesus Christ are rescued, we are just dead men walking. Some teachers and theologians would have us believe that we must die in order to be saved but the truth of the matter is that we are already dead. We are prisoners to death (sin) and until we humbly come to Jesus Christ in faith we remain imprisoned to death (sin). Sin is death warmed over to coin a phrase. We must come to Jesus Christ in faith that we may be set free (live); “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Now if and when we realize that we are dead which simply means accepting the fact that we are sinners (dead men walking), Then “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation” (Hebrews 2:3)? God promises us that true liberation (freedom, life) is available in Jesus Christ through faith. Bob Hoekstra writes “If this saving work of the Lord is neglected there is no rescue from the devastating consequences of sin and self” (prison of death). This helps to give credence to Hebrews 2:3; “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” This delivering grace of God through Jesus Christ is so awesome; it will rescue us from death and will deliver us unto eternal life. This great salvation in Jesus Christ is deliverance from the kingdom of darkness unto the kingdom of light (everlasting light). We will go from unto, for Jesus says in John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that hearth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come unto condemnation; but is passed from death unto life”. We will be dead men walking until we seek and find life in Jesus Christ through faith, then and only then will we be delivered from condemnation(death) unto justification (redemption and eternal life). Our lives will be justified in Jesus Christ through faith. In Romans 5:24 we read of how the offense of one (Adam) caused judgment came upon all men to condemnation (prison of death); and by the righteousness of one (Jesus) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life (eternal life). So I say to you let’s move from death unto life, from hell unto heaven where life eternal, never ending bliss, joy, peace, love, harmony and everything good awaits us.
The only way to achieve such a life is through the cross. We too must be crucified as Jesus was so that then we may be resurrected in Him that was resurrected for us. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”. Galatians 2:20 The only way to go from death unto life is by faith in Jesus Christ who died and became sin for us so as for us to attain life.
We must seek justification through faith in Jesus Christ and seek it with consistency. We can’t buy it, we can’t earn it, begging wont get it, we must have faith in our Lord and savior Jesus Christ to be justified in living. So brothers and sisters let’s stop walking dead and choose
this day to live. |
