18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I
have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Amen.
And Peter said, Let your hearts be changed, every one
of you, and have baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of
your sins; and you will have the Holy Spirit given to you. (Acts 2:38)

Baptism -
Man lost his relationship with God at the time in which Adam and Eve fell from
the grace of God through sin and deceit. No longer was man able to freely
commune with God because sin blocked that relationship. Animal sacrifice as
commanded by God only served to act as a sin atonement which had to be offered
over and over by the High Priest, but Jesus became the sacrificial Lamb by
shedding His own blood on the cross for the sins of man.
When we are baptized in the name of Jesus, it is a symbolic gesture of our
belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior and His forgiveness of our sins through the
shedding of His blood (the sacrificial Lamb) on the cross. We enter into the
water with the weight of our past sins - washed in the blood - and come out a
new creature in Christ, without sin.
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…“ (John 3:5) Now our
relationship with God is no longer blocked by sin, and we are now free to
commune with Him.

Baptism Service 11-9-08

Faith in Christ Ministry in Willis, Texas. To those of you who were baptized, we
wish you God’s richest blessings! Your lives will be forever changed as you have
accepted Christ as your Savior and been washed in His blood. Your sins of the
past are forever gone, and you are now free to be everything that God has
designed you to be! |
