Adversity To Victory!

Instead of A to Z, I have gone from A to V - Adversity to Victory! This adventure has led me from a lifestyle of anger, bitterness, resentment, pain, self-pity, yes, even anger with God, to a place of recognition and understanding that these circumstance were not short-lived or misfortune, but rather, an opportunity for a life of new understanding and revelation from God.

Once I learned from God that there is much for me to learn and gain from difficult circumstances, I became insatiably hungry for the Word of God which has revolutionized my life.

So come, break bread with me and let's share this adventure!

 Advancing through Adversity

Red Sea Experience

I was about to retire for the evening when I remembered I had not reviewed my website emails. I thought to myself, “Why not!” And so I flipped to incoming mail and was so blessed by a prayer request that was sent. This believer wrote in response to a prayer request she sent earlier. God answered her prayer…but not quite the way she anticipated.

I am forever humbled by some of the Red Sea Experiences I have had. You know…experiences that are so overwhelming that all you know what to do is cry out to God for help! You know you are completely incapable of changing your circumstances and your strength is about gone. Just to hold onto your sanity is almost beyond your ability.

Think about this:
When we feel the raging sea lapping over our toes…our ankles…up to our knees…however far toward the top of our heads - that is places in the perfect position for a miracle by God! And He is so good and willing to perform such!

When we become aware that we a truly insufficient, then we accept the truth - God is sufficient! No matter what - He is sufficient! When we release our control, our will to God, we can expect a miracle!

I remember one particular Red Sea Experience I was going through. It was just a matter of minutes and all we owned would be gone. Our home, the family structure we had at that time, everything that we worked for and treasured…everything. But God!
Fifty-seven minutes and counting before a decision of doom would be made. But God!
But God came through for us. We did not lose anything and family structure remained in tact. All we thought important to us was a gift by God.

It was not a pleasant experience to go through, but one that strengthen my faith in God and changed my life totally. My answer was not one that I expected, but the changes that occurred due to the experience molded and help prepared me for the future. It has had a huge influence on my faith level today. Faith and grace must work hand in hand. God never abandons His children in their time of need. He is always working to bring about His plan to fruition in each of our lives.

I thank God, that many times He does not answer my prayers as I anticipate. His plans are uniquely tailored to each individual and my thinking doesn’t always encompass or understand God’s love, mercy, and wisdom.

Be encouraged! The Red Sea Experience that you may be experiencing at this time in your life will end. He wants to bring about good things in your life! God loves you so much and wants only the best for you and your family!

Defeating Giants!

Ever thought about the role self-pity plays in our lives today?

It is hard to think of a more destructive weapon we use against ourselves than that of self-pity. It completely disarms us as it pulls the life of the Word out of our lives, disabling the Holy Spirit to work in us, to grow and mature. Self-pity has one goal: destruction. It breaks down the communion and communication with God by blocking our faith. Fear takes over. Defeat lurks around the corner. Self-pity turns into depression, apathy, oppression, illnesses, or worse. Click Here to Continue>>>>>

  FAN THE FLAME!
Peter was an interesting man; one that is easy to relate to. Like many, he worked hard. He was a fisherman. Day in, day out, he went to the sea to obtain through hard work his living. He was a man of faith also. But, like many, he had his ups and downs - his doubts, questions, and at times confusion with God.

We find in Luke 22:34 a discussion between Jesus and Peter. Peter was told that 3 times he would deny knowing Christ. Peter denied such a happening would happen. And when it did as Jesus was taken into government custody, Peter was crushed. He had failed his Jesus. The pain and torment must have been terrible as the words fell from his mouth. Peter must have said to himself, “How could I have possibly denied Jesus, my Lord?” (Luke 22:26-34 Amplified)

Interesting to note that the women who went to tomb of Jesus after His death, was told by an angel they met, “Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.” (Mark 16:6-7) The angel specified Peter by his name. Jesus was going to see Peter.

He understood Peter hurt at his failing - his denial of Him. But He also saw more. There was more work to be done in Peter. The issue could not be dismissed without Peter facing it. Sometimes God wants to do things through us, but cannot until we face issues in our lives and work them through with the help of Jesus.

Let’s back up the story of Peter a bit.

Many believe that worship is just about going to church, singing a few songs, listening to an inspiring message from the preacher and then going home. True worship is much, much more. It is life changing every single time. It is about a lifestyle.   Life in the Book of Acts Today!

In the book of Acts, we find the preparation of the Church 4-fold: The Divine Commission as we call it (Acts 1:4-8), the ascension of Jesus into heaven (Acts 1:10-11), the descending of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4), and the believers being equipped for God’s work through them (Acts 2:4; 4:31). They were given instruction in order to accomplish God’s plan.

We find Peter at Pentecost ministering. (Acts 2:41) Then we find growth of the Church (Acts 2:41); further additions (Acts 2:47). Peter’s second sermon is recorded (Acts 3:12-26), was followed with persecution (Acts 4:1-3, 17-22), which was then followed by another growth in the Church (Acts 4:4) in which the number of believers increased. We find this pattern: Preparation, Ministry, Persecution, and then Church growth repeated over and over in the Church.

This was not an experience that only Peter lived, but one in which the Church of today realizes. As painful and frustrating as it may be, this same pattern challenges us to remain strong and sure in our faith. It stretches our faith to the max at times when we feel the pain or frustration of going through this same pattern as Peter did, to truly believe the Word of God and all that He both instructs and encourages us to not only believe, but live. It requires that all that is within us to reach toward the mark He has placed before us with confidence and belief that what God says is, and will be…without question or doubt.

Need a little boost of faith? Try reading the following passages. It will give you a lift!

Hebrews 11:1

Romans 10:17

Romans 12:3

Hebrews 12:2

Matthew 17:20

Mark 11:22-24

Romans 1:17

II Corinthians 5:7

Hebrews 11:6

I Peter 1:7-9

I John 5:4

Matthew 9:20-22

Matthew 9:28-29

Mark 9:23

James 5:14, 15a

Now if we act upon our faith with obedience to God, we have a powerful combination because we are in the position of being open to God. And then of course, new have the peace we long for as a result.

“O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:” (Isaiah 48:18)
We can obediently stand strong and sure of God and His ways.

“But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.” (Jeremiah 7:23)
God will prepare us to do the work He sets for us to accomplish. We will have time of ministry and persecution. But if we remain true to our calling, we will see the growth of the Church! No matter whether we know or understand God’s way or not, God knows what He is doing. He will give us the preparation and instructions as needed to accomplish all that He has for us to do and to be able to withstand in and all obstacles that may try to stand in our way!

With Jesus, we Do live a life A-V!
